Fowler: A little about me

Posted By: Brett Fowler (deleted) Community,

Howdy folks,

For those that don’t know me, my name is Brett Fowler and I’m the new director of Membership and Marketing here at the Walton County Chamber of Commerce.

Many of you may recognize me as that guy running around the local high school sports fields with a camera in hand or you’ve know me as a longtime member of the Walton County Community. For those that don’t know me, let me give you a little background on myself.

I’m a 2016 graduate of the University of North Georgia (#Hawkem) with a bachelor’s in communications and a 2010 graduate of Monroe Area High School.

I’ve spent the past six years as the Sports Editor of The Walton Tribune. During the time I won awards from everything from photography and writing to layout and design. I’m proud to have led a team of writers and photographers that helped our sports section with first place in the Georgia Press Association’s Better Newspaper contest in 2020 and well as help The Tribune as a whole win General Excellence in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Entries for the 2022 Better Newspaper contest are due this week and I’m sure there will be a few more awards added to that list.

Prior to my time with The Tribune, I spent four years working with Ron Scott and company at Scotteez in Loganville. During my time there I did design work for a variety of promotional products.

While still in school at UNG, I served as both Sports Editor and Editor-in-Chief of our student newspaper, The Vanguard. It was during my time in college that I started freelancing for The Tribune.

I’m a big cheerleader for Walton County and I’m excited to be a part of the staff here at the chamber. I’ve seen this county grow tremendously in the 29 years I’ve lived in Walton County. From playing baseball on the Loganville recreation fields where Kroger now sits to the construction of the new Monroe Pavilion, Walton County has thrived. I have no doubt will continue to as we move into the future.

If you’re reading this and you’re not already a member of the Walton County Chamber of Commerce, please reach out and let’s get you signed up. You can reach me at [email protected].
